Decided to pick up The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan after seeing the preview for the movie- see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0814255/.

I listenend to the book on a playaway- so cool and easy! Loved the story and how the author incorporates ancient Greek mythology and the god and goddesses- I remembered some from long ago lessons, and also learned something new. I've decided to split the Book Thieves book discussion group here at the library into middle and a high school groups who will meet every other month. January's book is Fire by Kristen Cashore (kind of HS but could be MS) and February's book will be The Lightning Thief for the MS group! Maybe we'll go see the movie together!

The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series (of which The Lightning Thief is #1) is now 5 books long- the latest published this year is entitled- The Last Olympian.
